On January 15, 2026, Andrew Brotton, President of the Renfrew County Real Estate Board, spoke to Ontario’s Standing Committee on Finance and Economic Affairs in Pembroke on behalf of local REALTORS®.
He highlighted the pressures facing Eastern Ontario’s rental market, called for modernized rental rules and faster mediation at the Landlord and Tenant Board, and emphasized the need for stronger consumer protection and confidence in real estate.
These recommendations aim to support Ontario families, improve housing stability, and ensure communities like Pembroke remain places where people can live, rent, and eventually own a home.
