Amanda McParland met with MP Cheryl Gallant to bring CREA’s housing recommendations to the table for Renfrew County.
RCREB Brings Renfrew County’s Housing Agenda to Ottawa
CREA PAC Days took place October 26–28, 2025, in Ottawa. This annual event brings together REALTORS® from across Canada to meet with MPs and advocate for key housing policies. This year marks the 40th anniversary of the event, celebrating decades of REALTORS® influencing national housing strategy. RCREB Past President Amanda McParland attended and had the opportunity to meet with MP Cheryl Gallant to discuss two critical recommendations from the Canadian Real Estate Association (CREA):
Leverage all federal tools to unlock housing supply — whether through infrastructure funding, standardized building codes, or other government-initiated endeavours to get more housing built, and faster.
Allocate 10-15% of the Build Canada Homes Program (currently $13 billion) to market housing, helping first-time buyers alongside non-market supports for vulnerable Canadians.
During their discussion, Amanda asked about local barriers in Renfrew County — such as development charges, long permit timelines, and limited land supply. MP Gallant expressed concern about potential real-estate fraud; Amanda confirmed there are no known cases locally, but emphasized that REALTORS® remain vigilant and rely on safeguards like FINTRAC.
MP Gallant encouraged REALTORS® and community members to reach out to her office anytime with questions or concerns—not just during scheduled PAC days.
