Killaloe-Hagarty-Richards

The Township of Killaloe, Hagarty & Richards is a picturesque, four-season rural community in Renfrew County. Formed on July 1, 2000, by the amalgamation of the former Township of Hagarty & Richards and the Village of Killaloe, it spans around 391.6 km² of forests, lakes, rivers, and charming small villages.

With a population of roughly 2,410 (2021), the area is sparsely populated but rich in natural beauty, offering residents and visitors alike a peaceful countryside lifestyle. The Township includes communities such as Killaloe, Wilno, Round Lake Centre, and others.

Outdoors is the name of the game here: boating, fishing, snowmobiling, hiking, and cross-country skiing are just part of the mix. The Bonnechere River, Round Lake, Golden Lake, and several provincial parks provide abundant recreation opportunities.

Culturally, Killaloe, Hagarty & Richards has deep, diverse roots: early settlers were German, Irish, Kashubian, Polish, and Wendish, many arriving via the historic Opeongo Colonization Road. The community prides itself on its arts, music, local festivals, unique shops, and warm hospitality – offering a genuine “country-charm” urban escape.
